COPYEDITING
Copyediting goes deeper than proofreading. We'll address structure, flow, word choice, and consistency — the things that turn rough drafts into polished prose. Maybe you have a word limit, or maybe there are more serious stylistic revisions that need to be made. The copyeditor aims to improve the overall quality of the text, and not just technical errors. This takes longer than simple proofreading and requires closer cooperation between the copyeditor and the author.
POST-TRANSLATION REVIEW
Machine translation has come a long way – but it still misses context, register, and cultural nuance. I work closely with translators and agencies to review translated text and ensure it reads as though it was originally written in English. My 20+ years of teaching have given me a clear understanding of many of the difficulties and challenges that non-native authors face.
